After radio silence of over a decade, broken only by a brief run of live dates, Desaparecidos finally stream their second album. 'Payola' is released next Monday (23rd June) and comes a staggering 13 years after debut 'Read Music/Speak Spanish'. With less than a week before the release, NPR have secured an exclusive stream of the full album which you can hear at their website. Six of the tracks have already been released as stand-alone singles and eight others have been added to complete the full-length. Understandably, the record is the politically-charged affair we've come to expect from the Oberst-led outfit (and most of his other projects) and they're touring it's release extensively over the remainder of this year. Fingers crossed for some UK dates once the American jaunt has been concluded.

Sleaford Mods have accused Slaves of ripping them off, including stealing their pose on promo photos, and labelled the duo "a pile of shit". Two of the most successful British acts of recent years have been flung into an online war of words after Sleaford Mods were interviewed for Crack Magazine earlier this month. When asked about Slaves, Jason Williamson didn't hold back as he claimed "they're doing my pose in photos, ripping us off." He went on to say that they were "trying to play this working class game" before concluding that they are "fucking appalling". Both bands have enjoyed huge success in recent months with Sleaford Mods completing a sold out UK tour and Slaves unleashing their debut album 'Are You Satisfied?' to critical acclaim. The Kent duo have so far only responded with a tongue-in-cheek Tweet about the two bands still being "mates". Read the full interview over at Crack Magazine. As diverse line-ups go, next year's Enter Shikari jaunt pushes the boundaries of how genres can sit side-by-side. Enter Shikari have announced a fairly unusual tour for February 2016. While some dates take place in cavernous rooms, like London's Alexandra Palace offering, others see the band setting up shop in the intimate confines of Glasgow's O2 Academy. The band have also confirmed that The Wonder Years will join them for all dates. The Philadelphia band have carved out a huge following with albums like 'The Upsides' and 2013's 'The Greatest Generation' (which actually made the top twenty in America), so it will be interesting to see how well their pop punk approach transfers to the Enter Shikari fans who may be in attendance for something a little more brutal. Perhaps the whole thing hints at a dramatic change of direction for The Wonder Years' forthcoming fifth album. Tickets are available from Friday 19th June. Manchester United heroes line up against a select Bayern Munich squad at Old Trafford this weekend and a host of big name pop stars will be joining them.
We've been admirers of Creeper for some time now and the band have just received some rather significant backing from a rock institution. Warped Tour has become an event which defines a generation. A coming of age for numerous bands and a rite of passage for American teenagers of a certain musical persuasion. The organisers announced today that it will once again return for an English date in 2015... |
