Tonight sees Dot to Dot's tenth anniversary get underway with the Manchester leg of the urban festival kicking off proceedings. Saint Raymond may be the official headliner, but the lineup is eclectic enough to please most comers. The event was one of the first 'urban festivals' which have taken the summer by storm over the past five years. Why spend the weekend in a field when you can set up shop in your favourite bars, drinking fancy beers out of something other than plastic cups. This year's event manages to balance homegrown talent, like the inimitable PINS, with the very best in international artists. Best Coast make a long awaited return to the live circuit as part of the festival, while 2014's most scintillating live prospect, Fat White Family look set to provide a defining moment fitting of a decade-marking anniversary.
We will be attending tonight's Manchester leg, where the likes of The Hotelier will be ripping through their blend of pop punk and emotive, alternative rock and Canada's Single Mothers are sure to prove monumental during their 1:30am Roadhouse show. As well as that legendary venue, soon to close its doors for the final time, The Castle, The Methodist Church, Manchester Cathedral, The Whisky Jar and plenty more of the city's finest locations will all be getting involved in hosting shows for Dot to Dot 2015. Other acts appearing include, Swim Deep, Rae Morris, Racing Glaciers, Honeyblood and Cymbals Eat Guitars. Firing on all cylinders until the early hours of the morning, Dot to Dot's organisers have gone to great lengths this year to pack in as much top-class musical entertainment as the bill can possibly hold. With tickets priced at only £25 for over one hundred bands, it's no great surprise that this festival continues to tower above so many of its competitors. Tickets for all three days will be available on the door.
