To the casual observer Idles may appear to be something of an engima; an inexplicable bolt from the blue thrust, blinking and blinkered, into a searching limelight. Casual observers, you see, are largely unaware that this year marks a decade since Idles came into being and some seven years since their first studio release was made available.
In these testing times, it's clear to see that the seemingly straightforward world outside our window is actually filled with juxtaposition. Not least the contrasting notion of 'debut UK headline tour' and 'sold out Electric Ballroom show' sitting side-by-side on a press release. But then, Sports team always have made their own rules.
It's a sad fact of life that everything is temporary. Bands come and go, fading away when things fall apart and only re-emerging when the money makes all the right noises. But artists? True artists are timeless and, while their vehicle may indeed be temporary, there's something which lives on regardless.
