It’s a controversial opinion for obvious reasons, but Milburn truly are the best thing to roll out of Sheffield in the past few decades. They’ve never taken themselves too seriously and even their comeback album, after a full decade away, managed to continue the musical legacy they first started way back in 2001.
Milburn have always been the relative underdogs. Even while riding high on the crest of a wave in the 00’s, there was always the sense that their searing anthems deserved more. It seems that there was only space for one megastar Sheffield quartet and, bewilderingly, that boat passed them by.
The line-up for 2Q Festival is already complete, with the likes of Milburn, Temples and Benjamin Francis Leftwich topping the bill and outstanding talent in the shape of Muncie Girls, The Lion and The Wolf, Kagoule and VANT further down the pecking order. The organisers have now announced the stage splits for the event.
After spending last month unleashing almost thirty artists for the line-up, Derbu's 2Q Festival have now revealed the headline acts for their 2017 edition. Reformed Sheffield heroes Milburn will top the bill and they'll be joined by Temples who will have just unleashed their new album before the festival takes place on Saturday 1st April.
Last week, Milburn kicked off their first full tour in eight years. Starting in Portsmouth and rolling across a further ten dates, the tour comes alongside the bands first new music in the best part of a decade. 'Midnight Control' and 'Forming of a Fate' both retain enough of the classic sound to please the faithful, but with enough of a twist to open the door to a new generation.
