'Doom Loop' itself is a different beast entirely from the self-titled debut. While much of the vitriol underpinning the first release is still bubbling underneath, much has changed on the surface. The band have a new frontperson, Ishmael Kirby, a new label, Marshall, and a more polished edge to their jagged punk rock explosions. Prior to the album's October release date, Dream Nails offered up tracks like 'Femme Boi' and 'Good Guy', both anthemic games of spot the difference, inviting the listener to explore their new world and see all that has changed.
This week sees the band out on the road to offer up the record in the way punk rock was always intended to be devoured; in the live arena. The venues are certainly bigger than those the band have graced before, which is testament to the ways in which the world is listening to their very important message. Dream Nails have come a very long way since 'Gig In A Box' brightened everyone's COVID lockdown, but we are all very much here for the next step of their journey.
