Ten years ago, The Cribs had a clutch of indie pop 'hits' not really heard outside of the alternative clubs housing the devoted every weekend. However, in May of 2007, they unleashed 'Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever', their first international major label release (although the band stayed true to their roots, sticking with Wichita in the UK).
From that point on, the Wakefield trio have never looked back. With vast outdoor shows, festival headline slots and hometown (sort of) arena shows under their belts, it's difficult to look beyond this, their third album, as the point at which the wheels were really set in motion.
This month, the band are hitting the road to tour the release in full. For a band so focused on looking forward and continuing to innovate, it's likely that this sort of victory lap will be a one-of-a-kind event, making the opportunity even more of a must-see.
The tour kicks off this Thursday in an upgraded Glasgow venue and works its way across the UK before a climactic headline date at Leeds. A triumphant homecoming for Yorkshire's favourite sons. Tickets for most dates are still available, but some are returns only.
