The album itself distilled some of the more meandering moments of ‘Fates Worth Than Death’ and left the prime cuts to sit as the band’s masterpiece offering (to date!) That’s not to say ‘Every Moment of Every Day’ is a diluted version of the vast soundscapes they are capable of producing, you need only look to the joyously child-like opening minutes of the album to see that exploration and eclecticism are still very much part of the Short Fictions package, but tracks like ‘Heather’ feel more streamlined and battle-ready.
This week sees the band head to British shores for a co-headline run alongside Other Half; a blockbuster pairing which simultaneously feels jarring whilst also making perfect sense – not unlike Short Fictions’ back catalogue itself.
