With a strong connection to the UK – linked to personal ties, musical histories and a deep-rooted love for all things Liverpool FC – Vinnie Caruana is no stranger to our shores; throughout his career we have been treated to a number of solo offerings and, as time has passed, the complexity and ambition of the tracks he’s attempted to re-appropriate in an acoustic style has grown and grown. Caurana’s current solo shows contain all of the bombast and impact as the full band shows he is known for and, with this being his first time in the UK in the post-COVID era, we’re confident that he will have added a number of new tracks to his repertoire in the interim.
In addition to becoming increasingly adventurous with the reinterpretations, it’s likely that Caruana has new solo material brewing and almost ready to share and with a fourth I Am The Avalanche record almost complete, he might even take the opportunity to showcase new cuts from his parent bands.
Joining the tour is the inimitable Sam Russo. A veteran of the road, Russo may not be a household name but he has written far more journey man anthems than lesser peers who regularly grace huge stages. A frustratingly undiscovered gem, his back catalogue is peppered with glorious singalongs like ‘Sometimes’, ‘Factory Rain’ and ‘Small Town Shoes’ and he is the perfect companion to join Caruana on the road for an extended period.
The tour begins tonight in Manchester with a sold out Gullivers show and rattles around the UK (with several more offerings already sold out) over the next week-or-so. Tickets, where available, are onsale now and the full tour itinerary is shown below:
